World Immunisation Week – Teenage Vaccination

Today, on Day 2 of World Immunisation Week, we’re talking about vaccines for teenagers which strengthen the protection they received as a child.

As children grow into teenagers, they need further vaccines to protect against other diseases like Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and different types of meningitis.  The booster vaccine makes sure their childhood vaccines last them a lifetime.

The vaccines are offered at secondary school:

  1. HPV vaccine (Year 8),
  2. 3-in-1 booster vaccine (Year 9),
  3. Meningitis ACWY vaccine (Year 9)

Watch this video to see how quick and easy it is on the day, once the consent form has been completed.  If your teenager misses a vaccine, that’s ok, they can go to a catch-up clinic or see their GP – https://youtu.be/eUQiLc31lIs
